Discover all Nylons:

This filament is made of polyamide 12 reinforced with 8 % of aramid fibers. Its benefits are tribological properties, great chemical resistance, high stability under a wide range of temperatures, and great processing.

All of these make it suitable for the fabrication of products like an unwinding wheel, bearings, or cogwheels. It's a durable material that resists a wide range of chemicals, including car fluids.

Features:

  • Good interlayer adhesion
  • Mechanical properties retained in range -40 °C up to +140 °C
  • Tribological properties
  • Smooth surface
  • Good hardness
  • Wear resistance
  • Creep resistance (resistance against deformation under long-term load)
  • Stiffness & strength
  • Heat resistance even under high loads
  • Low thermal expansion
  • Chemical resistance against a wide range of substances
  • Low density
  • Safe to use in electrical and electronic equipment
  • Low fumes released, BPA-free, styrene-free

Excellent filament, very durable and surprisingly easy to print with

This filament was shockingly easy to print with (K1C), and is even stronger than I had expected. I use it for parts that need exceptional durability such as the wheel hub of a heavy remote control car (pictures). I tried using PETG and regular Nylon, but both filaments failed. The Aramid AF80 works perfectly though.

    Great Engineering Filament

Other than drying, AF80 is surprisingly easy to print with a 0.8mm nozzle, on a Bambulabs X1C, engineering plate, with Magigoo PA.

Like FX256, AF80 parts are tough, even below freezing, or wet. AF80 doesn't seem as stiff as PC, or even some CF & GF filaments but it's stiffer than FX256. The upside to not being quite as stiff is that AF80 is less brittle than some PA-CF filaments I've tried. This also warps noticeably less than NylonFX256 and shouldn't creep over time (haven't confirmed this).

My only complaint is that there's no grey/black option. AF80 might look really interesting mixed with the natural aramid color. The existing yellow/beige looks like an old ABS computer case from the 1990s - but this is a very minor complaint for an engineering filament.
