After a long-term partnership with the research team of prof. Ing. Pavol Alexy, PhD. from the Slovak Technical University, we are proud to introduce a brand-new material that is like a dream in the plastic world – a fully biodegradable filament for 3D printing.  This special material is called NonOilen®.

This filament is made of polylactic  acid and polyhydroxy butyrate blend (PLA/PHB). The content of PHB improves the toughness, temperature resistance, and especially biodegradability. It perfectly fits into the principles of the circular economy, it can be reused many times, therefore, you can reduce the waste, and once the lifetime ends, it can be recycled

Main features:

  • Temperature resistance up to 110 °C
  • Objects may be washed in the dishwasher
  • Easy 3D printing comparable with PLA
  • Safe for food contact applications
  • 100% made of polymers from renewable resources (bio-based)
  • Decomposition in compost is about 3x faster than PLA

Feel less guilt when needed to print a new part

I'm new to NonOilen and the first impression is great. Tuned the printer parameters for best results without being an environment offender. Original box comes handy to collect all failed prints, maybe send them back for recycling some day. Dishwasher-safe and food-contact approved is a nice bonus.

    Juergen‘s NonOilen experience

I designed and printed a coffee cup out of NonOilen.
-temperature resistance is great! I was looking already for a long time for such a material!
-printing temperature is quite low, that‘s astonishing and highly appreciated.
-printing is easy, works even on my prusa mini, no enclosure needed
-supports can be removed easy ( on my bambulab x1 carbon)
    -unfurtunately no colors availably
-certain areas of the parts (thin walled) can be brittle, the handle of my cup for example
-high elongation when getting hot: the bottom of my coffee cup will warp after filling with hot coffee and the cup and the cup will wobble a little when placing on the table - I will have to think about a special design modification in order to deal with the elongation issue.
-next project will be an airbox for the Weber Carburetor of my 1988 Suzuki SJ413. Let‘s see if it will work or if I have to go for Polyamid…
